Type 2
Till Next Week,
Shawn
We've got two .... Bruce Jones penned books Last week and I just happened to
read both of them, one by accident and one on purpose. You guys Remember Bruce Jones
he 's the dude that helped save Hulk when his book was down for the punch, but then
basically kicked Nightwing in the balls when he took over his book for DC's One Year later
arcs after Infinite Crisis. That was sure a piece of crap.
Of the two books that Bruce
Jones authored this week
Texas Chainsaw Massacre,
Raising Cain #1 was probably
the better of the two.

Horror is one of my favorite
mediums, so I didn't even
bother to see who wrote the
book as I tore into it. As I got
around ten pages in I started
to realize how MESSED up
this book was and decided to
see who would write such
disturbed shit, imagine my
surprise when I saw it was
Bruce Jone, and thats when I
realized he's perfect for
horror.

Jones' crazy I don't know
where I'm going with this but
am going to try and write the
shit out of it attitude works in
horror. Plus he didn't really
have to make too much
sense since he's writing
about a crazy hick family
thats inbreed beyond
compare.
And then we have The War
That Time Forgot #1.

Now here is what i don't
understand, why give a man
who couldn't relaunch a
property (anyone read the
recent relaunch of
Deadman? I didn't either.) a
few years ago a new one to
try?

The craziness and sense of I
don't know whats going on
that worked in Texas
Chainsaw, just doesn't work
in first issue of War and
probably won't for the other
12 issues in this maxi series.

I seriously had no clue what
was going on from the get go
and really couldn't pick up a
main plot besides some dude
flies into the Savage Lands?

I don't know.....But if you're
looking for something Bruce
Jonesey to read pick up
Texas Chainsaw and pass on
the war that I wanna forget.

You would think.....that after such a full week of good books to read last week
they would have given us a break, but instead we're presented a crap load of good treats
two weeks in a row.

SOOOOOOOOOOO let's start talking.....
AT the top of my read pile this week we FINALLY have
Marvel's reader directed poll for the comic formerly known
as Next!

The concept of Genext is incredibly cool , what would it be
like if the X-men aged in real time. The original team would
be in their 50's by now and the New X-men would be around
their 30's, so that means we'd have a third generation of
mutants ready and willing to be trained to fight the good fight.
Or would we?

Unfortunately I don't like it and it comes as no surprise to me
since it's helmed by Claremont, but that's not the real reason
why.

ALL THE CHARACTERS SOUND THE SAME. Not a single one of
them have a distinct voice and they all seem to call each
other "Girl". I had to read the issue twice to make sure it
wasn't happening in the local "gay" bar down the street.
If you were wondering what was happening in the Baxter
Building after "Sue Storm" threw the whole place to hell, you
don't have to wonder any longer 'cause Marvel has brought
us that answer in the form of a mini series, Secret Invasion:
Fantastic Four #1.

In this three part series we're going to find out what's going
on in the Negative Zone, who's been replaced on the
Fantastic Four team and someone is going to learn that hell
really does have no fury like a woman scorned.

HMMMM....Who could that be?

For those of you that want the WHOLE Secret Invasion
Experience, you really wanna read this book.
